TPS Designation for Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone

Kelli Allen

As of November 21, 2014, three additional countries have been designated for Temporary Protected Status (TPS). Individuals from Liberia, Guinea, and Seirra Leone who have been physically present in the U.S. since November 20, 2014 are potentially eligible.

If eligible, you must register between November 21, 2014 and May 20, 2015. All individuals must pass a criminal record background check. Those with more than one misdemeanor or any felony conviction are ineligible for TPS.

Individuals granted TPS are allowed to legally remain in the U.S. until the designation ends (currently 18 months but may be extended), are granted employment authorization, and may be given permission to travel.
